Jaye Lewis with her beloved companion Happy Dog
By the grace of God, I am a happy and fulfilled
woman, but it was not always so.
I was born on Easter Sunday, in 1946, into a poor family.
My father was an alcoholic, although that was never spoken of.
My
mother was a beautiful woman,
who believed that a kindness done for a stranger
was done for God Himself.
It was not a happy life,
but amidst the sadness
there was faith, hope, and love.
My book is a celebration of the gift of life,
filled with unexpected kindnesses received,
and, I hope, kindnesses given.
Entertaining Angels is the story of an examined life,
redeemed by grace.
I pray that this book may inspire others
to explore their own lives,
looking for joy
within their sorrow,
for triumph within defeat,
and perhaps
everyone will come to an understanding of
the meaning of
entertaining angels.
With gratitude, Jaye Lewis
